I bought a used 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited sold in 2007 with 29,000 miles (warranty's good for 3 yrs & 36,000 miles.)
Chrysler claims the vin# don’t match with factory vin's
What is my recourse with chrysler - when chrysler won't honor their warranty?

If you still have your purchase contract it should show that you bought the car with the remainder of the warranty in effect. That is all you need to enforce the warranty.

I would to a trace on the vin# and see where the vehicle really is. It is totally possible someone did some switchewroo and you are now having to pay for it. are You a victim of a stolen car or something like that.

Chrysler doesn't have to honor a warranty of mismatched serial numbers. you need to find out from the dealer how to trace serial numbers, the DMV can, and the manufacturer is required to keep all that info. so the other VIN what did it belong to and where is that vehicle today

WHOA! I just read the q again. Sue the dealer and the manufacturer if you bought it new. they will have to come up with the reasons why they feel it has been switched....

Chrysler has had these issues in the past. You need to get a lawyer that specializes in vehicle fraud...

What do you mean by the VIN does not match with factory VIN??Is there a conflict with the VIN# on the car.The one in the windshield does not match the label on the drivers door jam for instance or on the registration??Or are they saying that the VIN# in the windshield was not a number issued by chrysler. If you bought the car used from the dealer, and now they are telling you there is a VIN issue, they are in big trouble. You have definite legal recourse to take against the dealer. If bought from a private seller you will have to go after them.Something happened in the cars past that you were not told about. What happens under a warranty repair is the dealer will fix it and then submit a claim to chrysler to get paid.If the vin is not a legit #,chrysler will reject the claim and the dealer will not get their money.Don't go in there yelling and screaming. That will get you nowhere fast.If you sit down and talk to the manager,I'm sure he will help you get to the bottom of this ordeal. If the vehicle was in an accident and the concern with the vehicle is related to the accident, the repair will not be covered under warranty regardless of mileage or age.Thats what car insurance is for.

Sounds as if the vin number has been changed.

Their are several reasons this could happen.

The first is the car is stolen.

Another is the car was made form two totaled cars (the most likely).

You should go to the seller and ask that your money be returned and the sale be voided. In the event the seller will not void the sale, see a lawyer.

We had a similar problem with Chrysler about my dad's '06 Jeep bought new. He hit a deer and it was supposed to be covered by chrysler's warranty. Turns out they just wanted to screw us. Anyway, we looked into suing them for falsification and other such shit. It would've cost more to sue them than to fix the car. They kept saying the vin on the Wrangler didn't match because it was a custom order on the golden eagle. the only blue in the country (or so they claimed when we bought it) for that year. Chrysler's full of it.
