I have an 07 4dr with AT, 4:10 gears, and 4wd. I drive it "nicely", but I get about 18.5 on average, around town. I get 22ish at 55mph. and about 19 or 20 at interstate speeds.

If you have changed the wheels or tires, that may make a difference. The engine isn't strong enough for larger tires.

PS...Keeping your toes in the fan shroud will cause really bad MPGs, too. Try driving "nicely'.

PSS...Most people don't buy Wranglers with the idea of getting great mileage.

RE:

I have a 2007 4 door jeep wrangler and the reviews said it would get 16 town and 20 highway. I get about 11.2 mpg regularly. Anyone else experience this problem too?

If it is stock and you drive it like an old man, it should get better mileage. It should get around 16 to 21 mpg.

That seems very low for a JK unlimited to get that typ of fuel mileage. With my 08 JK Unlimited I have avg. 18 City and 23 Highway. I am running 305/70R16 Toyo M/T's, Terraflex BB, 3:73 diff, 6speed and stock everything else. My fuel mileage dropped about 1MPG by placing 33's over the stock 32's. I have heard of these lower numbers 13-14 MPG when owners have placed 35" or larger tires.

How are you calculating the 11.2MPG by the Jeep's dash calculator or by hand? I would not go by the Jeep's fuel mileage calculator as mine was showing 3 MPG worse than my hand calculations.

What gears did you get? If you are getting that poor of mileage sounds to me you have upgraded your tires to 35's or bigger which will drastically reduce your fuel mileage. If you have added a new front bumper, winch, rear bumper, lift...this will add up to more weight to push!

If you do have 35's or larger I would really consider re-gearing to 4:88's or 5:13's to get back some fuel economy and power to push the bigger tires! If you are pushing the Jeep on the freeway lots...you have to realize the Jeep Wrangler has aerodynamics of a brick!

As the saying goes "its a jeep thing'' I havent found a jeep yet that gets good mpg. However 11 mpg sound a little low for a 07 jeep.

That depends on the gear ratio in the rear differential. Older Jeeps had 3:73s or 4:10s. 373s got better mileage, but 410s had more power.

Do you carry a bunch of weight, or have you custom wheels(a different size that OEM)? Either of these will make mileage worse. Actually, the tires will throw off your gauges as well as mess up your mileage.

Also- Chrystler is notorious for misrepresenting the acutual fuel economy of their vehicles.

My '94 2.5L with 4.10s got 14mpgs, but i had 18" rims with rubber that was 33 inchs high and 10 inches wide. Then I put a turbo on her and she got 18mpgs(and 250hp!!)

good luck
