im about to buy a towing package for my 2006 jeep grand cherokee laredo, howver it looks as if i may have to cut out my rear bumper some in order for the reciever to actually be visible. My back bumper is solid plastic all the way across and looks like it might get in the way of the reciever, anyone know if it will or not???

The receiver hitch will not interfere with your bumper, It will be mounted well below the bumper. You can have it mounted so its hidden by the bumper if you wish, however its not recommended due to all the cutting involved, as installation will be more expensive.

You should look at a class III or class IV receiver. The class 3 receiver will be good if you have the 6 cylinder engine. If you have the V8 however you should get the class IV.

6 cylinder Jeep Grand Cherokees have a tow capacity of 5,000lbs.

8 cylinder Jeep Grand Cherokees have a tow capacity of 6,500lbs.

Also if your jeep doesn't already have one you should have an auxiliary transmission cooler installed when the tow hitch receiver is installed. This will increase the life of your transmission by allowing it to run cooler.

There is no template in the factory kit. What you actually need to do is remove the bumper skin and on the back side are lines molded into the plastic that guide your cutting. The kit comes with nice directions. You will also need a bezel kit to go around the cutout and a wiring kit. They all come separate.

yep, you have to cut it. not very hard though if it's a factory kit it should come with a template.
