Where is the starter on a 2004 jeep liberty?

it is on the left side, buried between the exhaust and the front differential. you have to remove the left side exhaust pipe from the manifold and drop it for clearance to remove the starter.

On the right side of the engine where the transmission attaches to the motor, follow the red battery cable, it attaches to the starter stud

I am going to assume this is the 3.7 liter and not the diesel version. it should be on the left hand side of the motor just under the drivers seat.

Under the motor--almost looks as if it is on the transmission.
