i have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee. ive had it for a few years. about 6 months or so ago, i noticed the check engine light would take 10 seconds to go on and over time progressively got longer- like 10- 15 minutes. i had to turn the key to the on position and let it sit and i would not be able to start the jeep until the check engine light went on. it would turn over, but not start. once that light went on though, my jeep would start right up and run fine. no stalling or anything. finally, about 6 weeks ago, the check engine light stopped going on, leaving me unable to start the jeep at all. so its been out of action since. my mechanic cant figure it out. any ideas on what this problem could be? ha ha please help...!

Clean the battery terminals, test the voltage level- 13.2 up.

Remove the distributor cap & check it and the rotor for burn.

If ur mechanic's not the dealer, take it there.

Or a diff dealer if suggestions here dont work.

It's good to have dealer do reg maint on schedule.

My first guess would be a faulty ignition switch. It is really hard to diagnose a problem like that without diagnostic tools.
